Dr. Joanne Baird grew up in Medford, New Jersey, and attended the College of William & Mary, where she played Division I soccer. She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, and then completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Andrews Institute after practicing general orthopaedics in the Navy for 4 years. Dr. Baird is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and specializes in sports medicine, focusing on shoulder and knee arthroscopy, sports-related injuries, and tendon and ligament conditions. She has a special interest in caring for youth and female athletes, as well as active patients of all ages, and in performing Mako robotic-assisted knee replacement.
A United States Navy veteran with 12 years of active-duty service, Dr. Baird brings a team-centered, patient-first approach to care, emphasizing education, shared decision-making, and both conservative and surgical treatment options when appropriate. She and her husband have two children.
